Qatar Airways to move to Hamad International airport

Qatar Airways will make its long-awaited switch from Doha International to the new Hamad International airport at the end of this month.

The new state-of-the-art facility had originally been due to open back in 2012, but has been dogged by a series of delays.

The airport finally celebrated its soft opening on April 30, with ten carriers moving into Concourse B, and Qatar Airways has confirmed it will now follow suit on May 27.

Hamad International will initially operate with three concourses and a capacity of 30 million passengers, rising to 50 million once two further concourses are completed.

The facility features 138 check-in counters, 30 of which will be dedicated to Qatar Airways’ business and first class passengers.

The airport will have a total of six A380 gates, with Qatar set take delivery of the first of 13 superjumbos next month.
